field&flower at Bob Doves - Support your local butcher

We took some time away from the farm yesterday and travelled to London. We went to Bob Dove’s butchers in Battersea and slow roasted a Tamworth pig before serving it up to 200 Londoners for lunch.

We used this traditional breed of pig as it has great flavour and roasts very well because of the fat content on the outside of the pig. We got up at 4am to start the spit-roast off and served the 7 hour cooked pork in rolls with homemade apple sauce and stuffing.

It was a great opportunity for the public to try a breed of pig which you wouldn’t come across in the supermarkets. The feedback from everyone yesterday was brilliant, and we even had repeat customers! It was great to see how many people were interested in the provenance of the pig, and the methods we used to cook it. Bob has many loyal customers and field&flower encourage everybody to continue to support your local butchers.

We love working with great independent and passionate people like Bob, and we look forward to spit-roasting field&flower beef outside his shop in a few weeks time.
